Information: This video shows the stages of the basic head construction starting with a ball and cylinder. Then drawing dividing lines for abbreviated guidelines of the basic skull form to serve as the foundation to build a portrait. Next you will learn to remove the sides from the ball to create the frontal planes, cutting out a wedge in front to indicate where eye sockets go, and use dividing lines for placement of nose, eyes and ears. Once you master these techniques, you can proceed with the fine tuning of mouth, eyes, hair etc. to bring it all together for a three dimensional study to serve as a portrait likeness of your choice in sculpture, pastels, or oil painting.
